REGINA— Saskatchewan Party MLA Fred Bradshaw will be acclaimed as the party’s candidate in the Carrot River Valley constituency for the 2011 provincial election at a nomination in Aborfield tonight.

“I want to continue be a part of the Saskatchewan Party team that is moving our province forward,” Bradshaw said of his decision to run again.  “This is the greatest province in all of Canada and I think Saskatchewan has the potential to continue to lead the nation for years to come.”

Bradshaw was first elected as the MLA for Carrot River Valley in the 2007 provincial election. Following the formation of the Saskatchewan Party government in that election, Premier Brad Wall appointed Bradshaw as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Resources, Heavy Oil and Northern Resource Development.

At the time, Bradshaw said his main reason for running was that he believed the Saskatchewan Party had the ideas and vision to ensure Saskatchewan became the place to be and the place where young people could find good career opportunities.

After almost three years of a Saskatchewan Party government, Bradshaw says he’s thrilled with the positive change he’s witnessed in the province.

“I’m proud to be a part of the team of men and women led by Premier Wall that have rolled up their sleeves and worked hard to move Saskatchewan forward,” Bradshaw said, noting he’s particularly proud of the Saskatchewan Party government’s work on the health and agriculture files.

“Our government has a solid track record when it comes to recruiting more doctors and nurses and working to reduce wait times for surgery,” Bradshaw said.  “On the agriculture front, our government went to work immediately in the wake of recent flooding and came to the table with an aid package to help our producers.”

“Most importantly,” Bradshaw noted, “Saskatchewan now is that place where our young people can find good career opportunities.”

With Bradshaw’s nomination as the party’s candidate for Carrot River Valley, the Saskatchewan Party will have nominated 26 candidates for the 2011 provincial election.  The party has two more nominations scheduled for July – Kelvington-Wadena on Friday, July 23 and Weyburn-Big Muddy on Wednesday, July 28.
